EP Field Instructor/Supervision Links Cognitive Behavioral Supervision: A Primer for Clinical Supervisors DATE: April 16, 2008TIME: 8:30AM Registration 9:00AM - 4:00PM Workshop LOCATION: Call for location CREDITS: 6 CEU's FEE: $110 SUMMARY :The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the basics of clinical supervision of mental health services within a cognitive behavioral context, so that they can be better prepared to assume administrative and clinical supervisory positions. The workshop will focus on the developmental stages of supervision, issues of preparing for supervision, assessing the therapist's skills, setting performance objectives for supervision of clinical services, and communicating performance issues to the supervisee, all with the context of an appreciation for issues of diversity. The use of CBT as a framework for teaching and supervising clinical practice will be highlighted, with examples. OBJECTIVES: Describe 2 developmental models for clinical supervision. Describe a Cognitive Behavioral model for supervision of psychotherapy. Learn how to incorporate and address multicultural differences in clinical supervision. Identify at least 5 common challenges in supervision and methods for effectively dealing with them in supervision. Practice techniques for giving effective feedback to supervisees that is corrective, educational, and challenging. PRESENTER: Bruce S. Zahn is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department and Director of Clinical Training for the Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Zahn is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and is a fellow of the Academy of Clinical Psychology. He has taught a course in clinical supervision at PCOM for the past 7 years, and has been a clinical supervisor for over 25 years.-
