WHAT NAMI DOES In partnership with NAMI Pennsylvania, NAMI of Philadelphia County’s affiliates and membership actively combat the discrimination and the inappropriate stigma associated with mental illness by educating others and offering support. NAMI’s educational program of public awareness and advocacy has achieved national recognition, and affiliated members play an important role in helping to disseminate the facts that mental illnesses are brain disorders and treatment works. At the national, state and local levels, NAMI’s membership works together on a broad agenda of critical issues associated with mental health. These issues include but are not limited to:
